Immunization programs aim at preventing morbidity and mortality attributable to vaccine preventable diseases by offering vaccines to the population, in accordance with established technical guidelines. This together with other important global guidelines such as Gavi-5.0 focuses presents a roadmap on how to achieve the vision of a world where everyone everywhere at every age, fully benefits from vaccines for good health and wellbeing. To assist countries, develop new strategic plans within the context of IA2030, the National Immunization Strategy (NIS) guidelines was released by WHO in August 2020.
Libya is currently conducting a comprehensive Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) review, which will provide valuable insights into the strengths, gaps, and opportunities within the national immunization system. The final report of the review is expected on first week of July 2025. This moment presents a strategic window to act on the findings and momentum generated by the EPI review.
