INTRODUCTION TO GGGI

PURPOSE

• Conduct a needs assessment among the MDAs and develop analyses to support knowledge enhancement.
• Develop and deliver a capacity building programme for prioritised positions in Ministries, Departments and Authorities (MDAs) and climate change governance structures.
• Increase and strengthen engagement of civil society, academia, women and the youth on climate change related dialogues.
• Develop deliver a capacity-building programme to support the operationalisation an ETF-compliant national iMRV system.
• Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement through knowledge dissemination across stakeholders.
• Monitor budget and other programme implementation metrics to support assessment of performance of the capacity building programme.

ENGAGEMENT

• Collaborate with other units and divisions of GGGI to ensure integrated delivery as One GGGI.
• Work closely with other project team members including consultants, coordinate and support policy development activities and provide backstopping for the project,undertake research and other analysis work and provide recommendations to key government counterparts.
• Build a strong collaborative working relationship with project team members to support capacity building and knowledge sharing activities and ensure their smooth implementation.
• Support the creation and preparation of presentations and learning materials to raise awareness and build capacity on climate action among relevant stakeholders.
• Facilitate engagement with civil society, academia, government institutions and private sector as part of the development of the capacity-building programme.
• Surveys national counterparts to support assessment of capacity building programme.

DELIVERY

• Conduct a Capacity Needs Assessment and develop a Capacity Development Plan for the relevant stakeholders.
• Design capacity building programmes and lead the development of inclusive, interactive and effective learning materials
• Implement the capacity development plan and evaluate impacts of capacity development activities.
• Deliver multiple capacity building workshops, high-level multi-stakeholder dialogues as part of the capacity building and knowledge sharing programmes.
• Coordinate the development, review and updating of knowledge products and training modules and materials and suggest improvements and updates.
• Design, develop and implement a knowledge sharing plan for relevant stakeholders.
• Leverage best practices from the region by engaging with experts, knowledge management and facilitating south-south capacity building.
• Provide benchmarking cases and mentoring services to stakeholders via consulting and post-learning monitoring session.
• Conduct post-learning monitoring sessions and summarize project experiences and lessons learned.
• Assess performance issues and work with national counterparts to build common understanding and coordination on application of the knowledge at the field level.

REQUIREMENT

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social anthropology, economics, sustainable development, knowledge management, climate change or related fields is required.
• Preferred minimum of 6~8 years’ work experience in policy development, and knowledge management, institutional capacity development, training and/or curriculum development in the areas of climate change / environmental policy, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in the use of multi-media tools: video/audio/graphic design/power point/lecture;
• Experience in integration of diverse teaching/communication channels to reach different audiences: television, radio, lecture, booklet, android messenger/apps
• Experience in development of socially-inclusive capacity building and awareness raising activities targeting women, men, and youth desirable
• Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
• Good reporting and information management skills.
• Familiarity in working with international stakeholders and government agencies in Zambia is a strong asset.

FUNCTIONAL

• A strong track record in undertaking research, analyzing country trends and drawing lessons learned
• A solid understanding of the Climate Action in Zambia
• Experience in communication, advocacy and training
• Familiarity with coordination for the development and operations of an integrated knowledge and learning hub.
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, articulate issues and recommend solutions.
• Good team player who can work as a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team member, motivate and lead group efforts and network effectively.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Analyst position is an X8 grade level in GGGI’s national salary scale. Determination of base salary is subject to candidate's experience, academic background, and internal equity. GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance. This is a national position and does not include relocation benefits.
