Position Summary The Division of Student Affairs is seeking a Communications Coordinator. This is a part-time (0.45 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

The Division of Student Affairs enhances learning and strengthens the educational practice of Oregon State University students by providing academic services, co-curricular engagement opportunities, housing and dining services, career development and other support resources.

Reporting to the director of Student Affairs Communications & Marketing, this position supports the communication efforts of the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs and the centrally funded departments within the Division of Student Affairs, including the Career Development Center, Educational Opportunities Program, Office of International Services and Office of the Dean of Students and its units (the Academic Success Center, Human Services Resource Center, New Student Programs & Family Outreach, Military & Veteran Resources, etc.). The position will also respond to communications and marketing questions from employees across the division and other parties; provide guidance to division employees, including centrally funded, fee-funded and auxiliary units; identify solutions to improve workflow and processes; and collaborate with university partners to effectively support the goals and objectives of the division.

Working directly with departments, this position will lead multimedia and print projects, providing web layout, writing, editing and design services with minimal oversight. The coordinator will also help supervise any graduate adjunct or student workers in the office, approving their work as needed.

Position tasks 60% CREATIVE SERVICES AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT
   » Contribute to the maintenance of a rich editorial calendar and write engaging and shareable content for news stories, social media and other publications as needed that reach the division's varied audiences.
   » Create new office procedures and improve upon current processes to better support division communications and marketing efforts.
   » Lead small to large communications and marketing projects that will improve division outreach to students and other audiences (for example, from the coordination of a photo shoot to the adoption of a new communications process or system).
   » Work directly with colleagues in centrally funded departments to create and refine communications and marketing collateral. Identify communications needs and guide communications planning.
   » Create and edit publications and graphics using Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
   » Organize and update information in department's project management system.
   » Make web updates to the Division of Student Affairs, OSU practice and other division websites.
   » Copy-edit written content in alignment with connected Press style.
   » Design communications for student, employee, alumni and donor audiences in a variety of email platforms.

20% contact WITH DIVISION AND UNIVERSITY PARTNERS
   » Serve as proxy for the director of Student Affairs Communications & Marketing at division and university meetings, when requested.
   » Respond to communications and marketing questions from division employees and other parties. Provide guidance or make referrals, as appropriate.
   » Serve on the division's Central Communications Team and act as a representative for centrally funded departments, in partnership with the director.
   » Attend University Communicators Meetings and trainings offered by University Relations and Marketing, as applicable.
   » Attend division-wide staff meetings and stay abreast of structural changes within the division, new initiatives, and division goals and objectives.

10% SUPERVISION AND leadership abilities
   » Help provide guidance, training and oversight to student staff that support division social media and other communications projects.
   » Evaluate the impact of communications projects, including publications, and collaborate with director and division partners to make improvements.
   » Research and evaluate marketing, communications and social media tools and provide suggestions on new opportunities and technology.
   » Work closely with director to manage division branding, including visual components and messaging.

10% OTHER tasks AS ASSIGNED

Minimum/Required Qualifications
   » Bachelor's degree communications, English, journalism, marketing or related field
   » Three years of professional marketing and/or communications practice (graduate level coursework can be substituted for professional practice)
   » Demonstrated proficiency in working with communication channels including digital media (web, social media, video) and printed material
   » Strong writing and verbal communication expertise
   » Knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and/or other Adobe Creative Cloud applications
   » Excellent project management expertise and capability to meet deadlines
   » A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
   » practice in a higher education environment
   » Demonstrated capability to work within established brand guidelines and uphold brand standards
   » Knowledge of web and print accessibility and how Information technology relates to communications
   » practice using Drupal or other web content management systems and Google Analytics - basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and/or JavaScript is a bonus
   » Photo editing and graphic design practice
   » knowledge of design principles for communications and marketing materials
   » Practical practice using project management tools, like Airtable, Monday.com, Asana or Basecamp
   » practice using email communication tools, particularly marketing automation platforms
   » Demonstrated knowledge of connected Press style
