ESSENTIAL tasks AND Job responsibilities: The Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) has expanded its capability to serve children of all abilities in Out of School Time (OST) programs. The Inclusion Specialist supervised by the Manager of Inclusion Services will support staff in adapting and modifying programs to accommodate individual needs and will provide modeling and coaching of inclusionary practices in OST settings. tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: » Support the needs of the Department as Information technology pertains to Inclusion » Conduct observations of children identified as or considered to have a discapability in response to a request for enrollment. » Provide onsite behavior support in the form of coaching and modeling for program staff in applying Inclusion techniques and providing periodic follow up meetings and observations to monitor the participation of individual children with disabilities year-round. » In conjunction with program staff meet with parents/guardians to develop individualized inclusion strategies located on needs of program candidates and participants with disabilities. » Review individual Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with staff and assist them to make recommended modifications. » Participate on the Inclusion Advisory Team. » Create and implement Inclusion Training for all staff. » Assist with hiring Inclusion Support staff. MINIMUM Requirements: BA with 3 years' practice working in the field and 2 years' practice in out of school time programs. Strong individual with group assessment expertise. Proven capability as a skilled teacher in an inclusive group environment. Practical practice integrating children with disabilities into mainstream programs. Excellent verbal and written communication expertise. capability to apply inclusion techniques in a team environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT : Classroom setting includes time at a desk with fluorescent lighting above. The noise level in work environment is moderately to very loud. Playgrounds with differing seasonal elements and position may require field trips to surrounding areas with children and staff. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the tasks of this job, the employee is frequently required to: » Be agile in their movements; moving quickly from sitting on the floor to standing to kneeling so as to be at child's eye level. Employees may have to run after children, both in play and to respond to an emergency. » Be able to hear children who speak in a soft voice or mumble words when distressed. » Be able to use their hands and arms to move, reach, handle and manipulate objects in the classroom. This includes moving furniture once a year when room is re-organized. » Be able to occasionally lift and/or move a child (up to 40lbs.). » Vision abilities are required for the supervision of children. RATE: $42,573-$57,040 annually plus excellent benefits
